Classic Rock, September 2011The new issue of the UK's Classic Rock Magazine hit the stores today, with subscribers having received their copies late last week. The publication (issue 162, cover date September 2011) comes sealed in a clear plastic wrap, which interestingly has most of the cover strap lines printed on it (rather than on the cover itself).

The magazine includes a large feature on AC/DC, and a look at Queen's legendary Halloween party in New Orleans, 1978...however, the main draw for Pink Floyd fans is a special 24-page supplement dedicated to The Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here.

This is a very nicely illustrated (with Jill Furmanovsky's excellent photos) look at both albums, written by Glenn Povey, author of Echoes and founder of Brain Damage Magazine, and reveals the fascinating story behind each album. Apart from the quality of the writing, some of the pictures are wonderful and new to us - hopefully a taster of what is to come with the upcoming releases starting next month.

Finally, within the supplement, is an advert for an upcoming "Classic Rock Prog presents..." focusing on Meddle. This particular magazine is due to hit UK stores on August 31st.

Classic Rock (and the CR Prog offshoot) is available across the UK, and worldwide via the retail arm of their publishers.
