MusicRadar.com have just published the results of a survey of musicians and rock fans, declaring Pink Floyd's 1973 album The Dark Side Of The Moon as having the "Greatest Album Cover of All Time". Storm Thorgerson's deceptively simple and striking image was just one of a number of the Floyd's cover which featured in the poll.

Beating Nirvana's Nevermind and The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's into second and third places respectively, the Floyd also feature elsewhere in the top 10, with 1977's Animals. Will Groves, editor of MusicRadar.com, said: "The Dark Side Of The Moon is conclusive proof that one simple, enduring image is the winning formula when it comes to album artwork, particularly when it's harnessed to such an iconic musical work. Any of the top 10 would have been worthy winners but the Floyd cover is a welcome reminder of a time when sleeve art meant much more than a jpeg a couple of hundred pixels wide in your iTunes library."
