STORY UPDATED WITH SECOND ELEPHANT! Pink Floyd cover designer Storm Thorgerson is one of many artists who have contributed their time and efforts to the Elephant Family charity. The Elephant Parade celebrates the Asian elephant, an animal on the brink of extinction, in the most colourful way possible - by having some 250 model nellies installed in the streets around the West End of London, each customised by a notable artist.

Situated by Hyde Park Corner is Storm's design. As you'll see from the pictures that Gary Kirk kindly sent us, the elephant quite uniquely is covered with mirrors, and of course has a Floyd connection with the name...

Following publication of this story, we were contacted by Andrew Burgess, who said: "I came across your article entitled 'Storm Thorgerson designs Zabriskie Elephant' about the great man's Zabriskie Elephant currently on parade at London's Hyde Park Corner. But did you realise he also has a second on display?

"Mr Thorgerson also designed #30: Vorsprung which is on display nearby the Audi dealership outside Green Park."

Our thanks to Andrew for the following picture, which you can click on to see in more detail:
