WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD! Do not read on if you don't want surprises to be spoilt, regarding what the band played, and what happened as the night unfolded! Night five of the tour, and the production is still in Chicago. Production issues from the previous night were clearly ironed out, with Mother working better, and the plane making a short, but sweet (and explosive) reappearance to help the first song finish with a flourish. As with the previous night, the "children's choir" that took part in Another Brick In The Wall (part 2) came from Endure Productions, a Matteson-based song-and dance group. This choir will be taking part on all four nights of the Chicago leg of the tour. If you went - let us know what you thought of the show! CONCERT REVIEW and PICTURE by BD CONTRIBUTOR, Jens Dam-Libach [The picture to the right - click thumbnail - shows Jens with the "homeless guy" that toured the auditorium before the concert began... ] What a show!!!! Clearly the best one so far. Was sat on the floor row 15 in the middle, which seemed like the perfect spot to be in. Absolutely stunning performance by the band and a Roger that seemed to be enjoying himself fully. I don't really know what to say other than it just keeps on getting better and better. Can't wait for the next show. [We asked Jens about the plane - if it flew on the 21st] Jens: The plane sure made it Matt. It looked absolutely amazing knocking over a few bricks bursting into flames. Mother inflation's eyes also worked well. CONCERT REVIEW and PICTURES by BD CONTRIBUTOR, Nelson I don't know what to say, and after reading all the comments (and looking at the pictures, and watching the videos), I don't think that there is anything left to say, or needed to be said. I was blown away. Next show, Tacoma Dome in Seattle, up close, and with my daughters. And it is one of my daughter's birthday. Very cool!
CONCERT REVIEW by BD CONTRIBUTOR, Simon Wimpenny The pre show entertainment started around 8pm as it normally does with the band hitting the stage just before 8:15, pyros, flag bearers, smoke, it was all there, same show just another night. once you've seen one of Rogers shows from the front 10 rows I think its very hard to sit anywhere else to be honest. You just don't se the interaction between the band, the eye contact between the guitarists, the smiles, laughs and facial expressions that go on through the whole show that you just don't see when your anywhere else in the Arena. Having said that, if you want your eyes to focus on the projections and see everything that's going on on the "wall" then its probably too close. You do see the effect of the 3D images a lot better when your slightly farther back and to the side, they don't work half as good when your looking straight on to them! However your able to see the band through the brick holes later in the show, something you cant see from the sides! So I guess its "horses for courses" but bear this in mind when your seeing more than one show, I would definitely recommend seeing it from different aspects. One good thing about tonight was the plane actually came down and crashed into the wall as it should do at the end of In The Flesh. It was great to see the school kids really getting into it as well during Another Brick, they were a lot more active than the kids in Toronto. The sound was incredible, the performance was amazing and the band were very, VERY tight tonight. I have to agree with everyone else that Chicago 2nd night was definitely the best show of the tour so far. Make sure you check out Simon's blog at SimonWimpenny.blogspot.com where you'll find full details of all his travels, along with more pictures and videos.
