Dark Side of the Moon 9th in new Zagat survey

Zagat, who publish restaurant guides, this week published its Music Guide, which rates and reviews the 1,000 top albums of all time based on the tastes of 10,656 participating listeners, spanning eight decades of recorded music from rock to classical, and with 80 indexes embracing categories like platinum sellers, chill-out and Grammy winners.

The 10 most popular albums, rated on a 30-point scale for overall quality, songwriting, musicianship and production quality, are, in order: Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen; Abbey Road, The Beatles; Sergeant Pepper's, The Beatles; The Joshua Tree, U2; The White Album, The Beatles; Kind of Blue, Miles Davis; Darkness on the Edge of Town, Springsteen; Revolver, The Beatles; Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd; and Achtung Baby, U2.
