Sony and Rolling Stone magazine are joining forces to promote the new SACD format, with the aim to get mainstream consumer support for it. Rolling Stone will be compiling their own "Top 500 Albums of All Time" list, and with the "Best Of" issue will be a hybrid SACD with a selection of tracks for Rolling Stone readers to enjoy. The track listing has yet to be announced but both a CD compatible stereo version and an SACD surround sound track will be included on the disc.

Readers will be encouraged to take their hybrid SACD to stores and experience the higher resolution that SACD has to offer in return for potentially winning one of 45,000 prizes, which includes SACD compatible "DVD Dream Systems" and albums such as Dylan's "Blood on the Tracks" and Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon". The issue will go on sale November 21st, 2003. Full story posted here.

Sony are also very actively promoting the SACD format at the Pink Floyd Interstellar exhibition being held in Paris, with demonstrations of various tracks from DSOTM in a specially designed "igloo"!
