Floyd covers played at Cavanagh book launch

Last month we alerted you to the launch of John Cavanagh's excellent book about Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, being held in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Scotsman newspaper has reported on this successful event - in fact, too successful! "...this was no regular Teenage Fanclub gig, just the world’s most affable band helping their friend, John Cavanagh, to launch his new book, but still there was not enough space in this roomy bar to accommodate all interested parties.

"In the end, the band - comprising Norman Blake, Gerry Love and chums including indie/jazz guru Bill Wells - only played three songs. The groovy Lucifer Sam, the unrewarding metaphysical whimsy of Chapter 24 and the epic psychedelic jam Interstellar Overdrive were faithfully rendered and cloaked in a suitably swirly slide-show. But, with no stage to speak of and some of the band seated, only the front rows witnessed the full performance, while those at the back struggled to hear Cavanagh’s readings, missing out on his impersonation of legendary Floyd sleeve designer Storm Thorgerson. It was an engaging idea for a one-off presentation and, with a few rudimentary changes, this free event could have been a gem."
