Roger Waters in Malta - update

Brain Damage was contacted last night by Mark Fenwick, Roger's manager, who confirmed that Roger will not be performing in Malta on April 30th, but that Mark and Roger have agreed that in conjunction with Gert Hof’s Light & Firework extravaganza they can playback fifteen minutes of the recorded performance. This will take place at midnight and will be broadcast via the EBU (European Broadcasting Union).

However, there is a potential spanner in the works - yesterday's Times Of Malta reports that an unsuccessful bidder for the EU accession celebration tender, ITC Ltd, filed a constitutional application on Tuesday claiming that its rights to a fair hearing were violated.

The company said it had not been awarded the tender after the Director of Contracts and the Contracts Committee, on the advice of the Adjudicating Board of the Ministry for Youth and Culture, awarded the tender to a consortium known as WelcomEurope.

Should legal action ensue, it could potentially throw the plans into disarray and affect proceedings...

Our thanks to Margaret for this update.
