We've now got full details of the long awaited release of the Live Aid 4-DVD box set. The "biggest concert in Rock 'n' Roll history" will be released on DVD worldwide on November 8th, 2004. The unforgettable global event, staged in London and Philadelphia on Saturday July 13th 1985, was watched on television by over 1.5 billion people around the world. These concerts led to pledged donations and royalties of over $140 million towards the devastating famine in Africa, and was a veritable who's who of the music business, with an incredible line-up of everyone from Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan, to David Bowie, Queen, U2, taking in the likes of Crosby Stills & Nash, Ozzy Osbourne, Madonna, and Eric Clapton, amongst others.

As part of the show, David Gilmour appeared with Bryan Ferry, providing the sole Pink Floyd involvement in the show. At the time, Ferry did not intend doing any shows to promote his Boys and Girls album, on which Gilmour guested. He wanted to continue with the next album before thinking of playing live again. Geldof managed to convince him to perform at what has been the biggest live event in the world ever.

Ferry's Wembley set, which included the songs Sensation, Boys And Girls, Slave To Love, and Jealous Guy, was beset by technical problems: Andy Newmark broke a drumskin with the first beat on his snare drum, Ferry performed most of his set holding two microphones as they were intermittently playing up, and Gilmour's Stratocaster experienced a power failure during the first song. Floyd fans will be pleased to hear that the DVD set includes the second half of the Ferry/Gilmour performance - as with most artists, there is insufficient room for their complete performance, unfortunately.

Of course, apart from David Gilmour and Andy Newmark, there were other people involved in the show with a Floyd connection: also in Bryan Ferry's band were Jon Carin and Chester Kamen; with Paul Young was Pino Palladino; with Madonna was Pat Leonard; with Power Station and Duran Duran, Gary Wallis, and with Eric Clapton (being himself a Floydian link), Tim Renwick. Finally, there was also Bryan Adams and The Hooters that were later to join Roger Waters for his 1990 show in Berlin.

The DVD set is being sold for the Live Aid Trust - the proceeds from every copy goes straight to the charity itself. With a stellar line-up, covering some of the greatest songs ever, it is surely an essential for every home! The four-disc set features English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese & Spanish subtitles (on the UK/European version of the set), and worldwide editions all feature Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, DTS 5.1 Surround Sound & Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo; the picture format is 4:3 full frame.

Orders are now being taken through our special links at Amazon. The discount that is offered through the UK and US links does NOT affect what the charity receives - they are guaranteed a set amount per set sold.

Finally, we've got the confirmed track listing for the complete set; here it is:
