Major Pink Floyd feature/interviews in new Word Magazine

We previously made mention of an upcoming feature on Pink Floyd in the excellent Word Magazine. We now have full details of what sounds like a fascinating read...

Initially, the band were due to appear on the cover, but with the tragic death of John Peel, the day before they went to press, a tribute to the DJ has taken precedence (naturally). Pink Floyd, one of John's favourite bands, still appears, as a drop in at the top of the cover (see right).

The main interest in the issue rests in the exclusive, indepth and potentially controversial interviews with both Roger Waters and Nick Mason.

Nick looks back at his fascinating new chronicle Inside Out: A Personal History Of Pink Floyd - and they've included some of its best photographs, including Roger, Rick and Nick in The Tea Set; the Floyd with The Move, Amen Corner and The Jimi Hendrix Experience; and a stunning photo of Roger and Nick in Sigma 6 at Regent Street Poly in 1964.

And you HAVE to hear Roger Waters on Nick's book - "complete bollocks, a case of selective memory". And on The Division Bell - "Jesus Christ, have you ever LISTENED to it?". And on David Gilmour's wife - "she writes all the lyrics, it's SO Spinal Tap!".

Also included are writer David Hepworth's 12 reasons why the Pink Floyd may be the most influential group in the world.

If you can't find Word Magazine in a shop near you, (and the December 2004 issue reported on here goes on sale from November 9th in the UK), try www.wordmagazine.co.uk. As long-term subscribers to Word, we can vouch for the great entertainment each issue provides. It's a great read! Our thanks to editor Mark Ellen for keeping us posted with information regarding this Floyd special - cheers, Mark!
