Syd Barrett: Two WarriorsUPDATE: Auction now closed, and decent amount raised for the charity!

Thanks to Rosemary Breen, Syd Barrett's sister, this wonderful mosaic (shown to the right) by Syd Barrett and titled "Two warriors", is now being auctioned on eBay in order to raise funds for the Syd Barrett Trust.

This is thought to be the only mosaic ever completed by Syd. It is an early work, probably made in the early 60s. The mosaic has never been out of possession of the Barrett family and is is only now going on sale in order to help raise funds to establish the Syd Barrett Centre for Arts in Mental Health in Syd's hometown of Cambridge.

The mosaic, measuring around 18inches x 24inches (approximately 45cm x 60cm), has a thin wooden frame, also made by Syd, and comes with a letter of authenticity signed by Rosemary Breen.

Please note that the image rights to the mosaic will be retained by the Syd Barrett Trust after the mosaic has been sold. To place bids, click here to go directly to the auction, which ends on February 17th at 4.20pm GMT.

The mosaic was on prominent display in Cambridge during the recent City Wakes tribute to Syd, and its striking design attracted a lot of interest from passers-by, Floyd fans and non-Floyd fans alike. It is a unique opportunity to own a real one-off piece of Syd's artwork, and benefit a worthy charity at the same time.

UPDATE, February 19th: the auction finished with the mosaic selling for a nice figure: £10,700. This will be a good boost to the Syd Barrett Trust!
