Our friends over at top London auction house Cooper Owen are running a Music Legends auction this evening (July 28th) which starts at 19:30hrs. The auction focuses on items from musicians such as John Lennon (with his yellow-tinted glasses being one of the headlining items), and Jimi Hendrix.

Amongst the Hendrix items are three items from his 1967 Winter Tour, all of which with a major Pink Floyd element to them. Many of you will be aware that Jimi's tour was a package bill, with Syd Barrett's Floyd given around 20 minutes to show what they were made of, in provincial theatres across Britain (and many places even had an early matinée show, too).

Memorabilia from these shows is scarce and always attracts high prices. Cooper Owen have three lots consisting of highly desirable items from this tour:

  • Lot 122 - Flyer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience / Pink Floyd / The Move at Coventry Theatre, Sunday 19th November 1967. The line up also included The Nice, The Outer Limits, The Eire Apparent and The Amen Corner who performed two shows; includes original postal booking slip at base. Measures approx. 7 x 10 inch. (18 x 25 cm). Estimate £300-400
  • Lot 123 -  Programme for the Jimi Hendrix Experience / Pink Floyd / The Move at Coventry Theatre, Sunday 19th November 1967. The line up also included The Nice, The Outer Limits, The Eire Apparent and The Amen Corner and performed two shows. Measures approx. 10 x 8 inch. (25 x 20 cm) Estimate £300-400
  • Lot 155 - Extremely rare hand-painted poster for The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Pink Floyd at Green's Playhouse, Glasgow 5th December 1968. The Jimi Hendrix Experience appeared on the same bill with The Move, Pink Floyd, The Nice and Amen Corner. This was the final night of the second Experience U.K. Tour. Red, black and blue print on white ground. Condition: Good, creased, with age spots and some tears to edges. Measures approx. 27 x 19.5 inch. (69 x 50 cm). Estimate £3,000-4,000
