We've been contacted by a US company who have a large range of vintage rock concert posters up for auction, including a bunch of Pink Floyd posters which rarely appear.

Backstage Auctions are offering over 3,000 historic rock concert posters, handbills, cards, tickets and tour programmes, for which bidding starts on August 14th (and ends on August 29th).

"It's like a visual parade of one of the most important eras in the history of rock and roll," explains Backstage Auctions founder/owner Jacques van Gool.

Complete series of original Bill Graham Fillmore West and Family Dog posters are the headlining item of the auction; also included in the auction are over a thousand individual poster lots of musical legends from an array of genres that is sure to entice any true collector of classic rock and psychedelic memorabilia.

Coveted by art and classic rock collectors, many of the pieces featured have set the standard for all rock and roll artwork. From album covers to ads to magazine designs and t-shirts, these works of art represent the birth of a style that has continued through the ages. Rock historian Paul Grushkin explains the value and popularity of these pieces when he says that "...the few times complete Bill Graham and Family Dog poster sets have ever been available, they were on and off the market in a heartbeat." The opening bids on the complete sets start between $50,000.00 and $120,000.00, well below its current value.

"This is a different type of auction for us," explains van Gool. "It's the first time that one of our auctions is built around a theme rather than a specific artist. It is also one of the biggest and most complete rock poster collections ever offered in the marketplace at one time."
