inside astoria With the release this week of Live in Gdansk, David Gilmour has been talking to various parts of the world's press. First, he takes New Zealand's 3News on a leisurely tour of his houseboat recording studio Astoria.

He said: "I didn't even think about putting a studio in it at first. It was just very, very beautiful, a magical place. Well it's lovely to be here, you know, to have the water gently drifting past us and all that, and I like to have windows. You know I've spent rather too much time in studios and most of them don't have windows, and I can't stand being in places that don't have windows."

Published today in the UK newspaper The Sun is an extensive interview with David Gilmour about the LiG release. Whilst conducted prior to Richard's sad passing, it finds David in reflective mood, talking about the 2006 tour, and how "it brought Rick out of his shell more and more. He was stamping his personality and forcefulness on the whole thing but Echoes was where it showed the most.

“Seeing Rick come to the fore was really great. We did Echoes a few times on the Momentary Lapse Of Reason tour in the late Eighties but it didn’t ever quite gel for some reason. On this tour, it was the highlight of the show, such good fun to play.”

The full interview, which can be read online at www.TheSun.co.uk, also includes David talking about his solo career at length, right back to his first solo album in 1978.
