Supergrass side project Hot Rats covers Syd Barrett's Bike Print E-mail

The Hot Rats - Turn OnsWith the Supergrass bass player sidelined due to a back injury, the band's other two members set out as a duo playing cover versions at a number of club gigs. With the feedback from the shows being so favourable, the duo - Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey - were encouraged to record some of their favourite tunes.

The result - Turn Ons by The Hot Rats - is an album to be released on January 25th, that is akin to David Bowie's Pin Ups, and the pair cannot hide the fact that their influences are clearly similar to The Thin White Duke's. The album is an eclectic mix of tracks, including The Doors "The Crystal Ship", Roxy Music's "Love Is The Drug", David Bowie's "Queen Bitch", and the Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd's "Bike", which they performed recently in a special BBC radio session to great acclaim.

You can pre-order the album now (and hear snippets of each track) at Amazon UK, and at Amazon Germany, Amazon Canada, and Amazon.com.
