David Gilmour with Rod Stewart - special preview Print E-mail

Rod Stewart SessionsFurther to our story late last week concerning the guest appearance of David Gilmour on a previously unheard 1992 session track of Rod Stewart's, you now have the opportunity to give the song (and a wonderful rendition it is too!) a full listen prior to its official release in North America on September 22nd, 2009.

"The Rod Stewart Sessions 1971-1998" takes a deep delve into the vaults that results in a boxed set of unreleased recordings. Spanning more than 25 years, the collection's 63 songs, outtakes, and ephemera provide extraordinary insight into the studio work of one of rock’s legendary figures.

Of particular interest to us is one of six songs present that were recorded in the summer of 1992. A remake of the 1969 Python Lee Jackson song (originally also sung by Rod) "In A Broken Dream", which features David Gilmour and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones, it can be heard now in its entirety over at the Spinner.com website. It features some wonderful guitar work by David, and his playing provides a wonderful counterpoint to Rod's plaintive vocals. Superb stuff - do check it out!

Preorders for the boxset are now being taken by: Amazon.com, Amazon UK, Amazon Canada, Amazon Germany, or Amazon France.
