Pink Floyd - All Saints Church Hall, London 1966 |
Photographs of one of the first Pink Floyd shows at The All Saints Church Hall, Powis Gardens, London, 1966. Our thanks to Peter Mercier, who contacted us recently and gave us permission to share his memories and pictures. All images and text © Peter Mercier."I was a photographic student at the Ealing School of Photography in 1966, and one sunny September afternoon we were having a lecture about fashion photography. "We were being assisted in this exercise by a young model who at the end of the afternoon invited me along 'to a gig in a church hall where one of the new psychedelic bands will be playing'. "Believe me it was another time and another place, for it turned out to be a very early Pink Floyd gig, featuring Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Nick Mason and Richard Wright." The following thumbnails give an idea of what these historic photographs, taken with a Pentax S1a camera, look like. There are precious few photos that survive of these early shows, and certainly even fewer are of this kind of quality. An incredible record of a show that most of us can only wish to have attended... The photos have been quality scanned from the original negatives and are professionally printed on Kodak Professional Digital Paper. And Peter is making a limited amount available (which none of us surely can resist at least one of, or alternatively the complete set of A5 images?!): Click on any image to be taken to Peter's sitePrices
