Roger's Us + Them tour:
"We are going to take a new show on the road, the content is very secret," said Roger Waters. "It'll be a mixture of stuff from my long career, stuff from my years with Pink Floyd, some new things. Probably 75% of it will be old material and 25% will be new, but it will be all connected by a general theme. It will be a cool show, I promise you. It'll be spectacular like all my shows have been.”
The announcement notes that "Roger Waters' legendary live performances are renowned as immersive sensory experiences featuring high class, state-of-the-art audio visual production and breathtaking quad sound. This new tour promises to be no exception; following months of meticulous planning and visionary craft, US + Them will inspire crowds with its powerful delivery and take the audience on an unforgettable musical journey."

We saw the show in Montreal on 17 October, the second of 3 nights in the city. On night one Roger had tweeted that it had been "epic". He's clearly enjoyed playing the Canada shows and after experiencing the incredible reaction from the audience in Montreal we understood why - it was flipping phenomenal. Dave Kilminster's tweet and Ian Ritchie's blog about the tour also recorded how amazing the Canadian shows had been.
The atmosphere was intense before show time. You could feel the crowd were up for this big style. I had been lucky enough to secure seats right near the front. A family (mum, dad and 2 small boys) sat near us. One of the stage crew came over and handed something to each of the boys, saying "these are gifts to you little guys". He handed each of the kids what appeared to be a set of guitar plectrums used by the band. The boys looked really chuffed....and so did their dad !
Whistling filled the arena about 15 minutes before start time and by the time the band appeared on stage the crowd were already at boiling point , the whole audience standing up.
A 3 hour mass sing along began, everyone standing and singing along. Set list and effects the same as before although it was interesting for us to be so near the stage and see the show from that position. What made this show different was the palpable energy coming from the stage as the band fed off the electricity from the audience. A real connection took place in that arena that night and it was just fantastic to experience. Magical.
At the end of the concert the ovation was just incredible. It went on and on and on and got louder and louder. After several minutes we realised that this was not a normal standing ovation and started to film it. Watching the video now is great but doesn't capture the intensity or volume of it. Roger looked genuinely moved and emotional. Eventually Roger said "I could listen to THAT all night". The band members just standing there in amazement - the audience showing their appreciation for a flawless magnificent performance. Eventually Roger spoke again, to the effect of "feel the love and empathy in this room tonight".
Such an amazing feeling to have been there for that.
