David's tour has now reached German soil, arriving at Schlossplatz. For the first 100 years or so of its life, Schlossplatz was closed to the public and was a military parade ground. Situated next to two other popular squares in Stuttgart, getting to and from the site should prove simple for concertgoers. Every year Schlossplatz is home to major outdoor events such as open-air concerts, children's fairs and parts of the Christmas market including an outdoor ice rink. During the 2006 World Cup Finals the square regularly held more than 40,000 spectators who watched live matches on 3 huge screens.
Tickets for this concert went on sale on Friday, February 5th, at 10am CET. Tickets are restricted to 4 per person. You can order tickets through JazzOpen.com, or via the ticket hotline which is 0049 (0)711-99 79 99 99.

And so the tour arrives in Germany for the first of two separate concerts in the country. A great venue, and a concert part of the Jazz Open Festival held each year in the location. We suspect that The Girl In The Yellow Dress was a particular favourite to the festival attendees who weren't so familiar with David's material!
Comments last night on Facebook suggest that David and his band were on great form again, but as ever, we'd love to know in more detail how the concert went from people in the best position to report back. So, did you go? Let us know what YOU thought!

We had seats in the first row. Great concert, great sound. David Gilmour seemed to be in a great mood too, and he was quite chatty. :) The whole band seemed to have a lot of fun and they played a perfect set.

After Pompeii I was looking forward to this concert as well. This time it was together with my 66-year-old dad who saw PF in Amsterdam in '69 and has seen them many times ever since (so PF must be in my DNA I guess).
During the day the weather was okay, but the prediction for the night was rainy. Half of The Schlossplatz was dedicated for the Jazz Open, which had Gilmour on Thursday the 14th, but was also hosting Van Morrison, Santana and some other artists during this one-week event.
On the day itself we tried to have a look at the venue, but of course there was strict security preventing us getting close, however one of the buildings surrounding the venue was a museum and had the doors open, so via a few doors we could have a look at the stage set up anyway.

Behind the main seating was an area for food and drinks and this was really done the German style, well organized, no queues, and good beer and wine in real glasses (no plastic cups).
We had row 15 seating (only concert for me with seating) and eventually the weather forecast was way off, it turned out to be a blue sky during the whole concert.
Again it was a brilliant performance and this time I had more of an eye/ear for the performance and was not so much overblown with the scenery as I was in Pompeii.
The concert started early compared to the others, perhaps this had to do with the location and the band were restricted to a time in regards to noise disturbance. Because of this early start we had a lot of daylight during the first part (good for the pictures!). David and the band seemed relaxed on stage and performed well again (although David did have a bit of a sore voice at the end).
With the very good organisation, nice weather, relaxed seating and a good concert it was again, a night to remember.
