As birthday parties go, this one sounded a cracker! Friday (April 27th) saw a special celebration of Polly Samson's 50th birthday, and as revealed on her Twitter feed, the evening saw her husband, David Gilmour, put on a special celebration for her.

Held at the 20th Century Theatre in London's Notting Hill, the party - in front of 150 guests (amongst others, Ringo Starr, Jeff Beck and Nick Mason) - included a live band which we now know (thanks to one of the band members) consisted of Phil Manzanera, Guy Pratt, Andy Newmark on drums, Paddy Milner on keyboards, and David himself. Polly tweeted that "It was such a shock! I had no idea he'd rehearsed the band and written a song. Dark horse but lovely one. x "

Polly also tweeted the setlist, which makes for interesting reading: Smile / The Blue / This Heaven / Where We Start / High Hopes / the aforementioned new song... Obviously, as a private party, it is extremely unlikely that we'll see or hear any of the performances (to save you asking!) but if any is officially released, we'll let you know. Our thanks to Werner at Pulse & Spirit for help with this info. And, our congrats to Polly on her special birthday!
