The RogerWaters.com presales began on August 1st, with advance tickets available to those who had registered their interest in particular cities. General sale tickets are now on sale through feriaticket.cl and other normal outlets. The public sale will also see a limited number of VIP packages made available for each show on the tour. The following video was kindly posted on Youtube on February 23rd, showing how early the initial preparations for the concert started...
WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD! Do not read on if you don't want surprises to be spoilt, regarding what the band played, and what happened as the night unfolded! Night sixteen of the tour, and the first of the second chunk of 2012 shows, arriving in Chile for a pair of shows in the large Estadio Nacional. This is the first of the stadium Wall shows - something that many of us never thought we'd see, based on the original feelings of Roger. However, he has recently gone on record giving his thoughts on adapting The Wall for the larger setting. As you'll see from the picture above and the following video footage, the stadium version is HUGE! The footage is courtesy of our friend Alien Gun, and the picture of the staging during the daytime is from Radio Futuro 88.9: Also, here's some very interesting footage showing plane flight tests at the stadium, again during the daytime: To the show itself, and we're really looking forward to your comments and pictures. From what we've seen so far though, the instant impression - other than the size of the venue, and the crowd, and the staging - was that there were far more fireworks - going high into the sky - for the In The Flesh? intro. When the larger plane flies the long distance down the wire from the very back of the stadium, to crash into the wall, a huge curtain of fireworks stretched into the night sky dwarfing the onstage explosion. Later, the Chilean inflatable pig that came out to take a look at the crowd, had a bad day at the office, as it came too close to the crowd, who decided they wanted their own special souvenir of the night, ripping chunks off the poor porker! You can see the pig's torment below... Roger dedicated the concert to Chilean songwriter Victor Jara and all victims of the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet: "I dedicate this show to the memory of Victor Jara and all deaths, disappeared and torture victims. We will remember them". If you went to this show in Santiago, please let us know what you thought of the event, and if anything interesting or different happened if you've been to previous shows and can compare.
