WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD! Do not read on if you don't want surprises to be spoilt, regarding what the band played, and what happened as the night unfolded! Night twelve of the tour, and the production stays in Boston for the last of three shows in the New England city. From here, the tour heads on to New York state for a clutch of shows there. Initial reports are that this was another good show, with the band and crew really in their strides now. However, the rumoured appearance by David Gilmour at this show DIDN'T materialise! If you went to this show, let us know what you thought of the event, and if anything interesting or different happened if you've been to previous shows and can compare! CONCERT REVIEW by BD CONTRIBUTOR, David Emerson For some reason I hesitated about going. Mostly due to the 'No Dave Gilmour' effect. Not to worry. I went (3rd of 3 Boston shows 10/3). Simply spectacular. I was lucky enough to catch one of the Wall shows in London back in 1981. As reports have said, this version has been retooled and upgraded...all for the good I reckon. Some of the visuals of this thing really are mind blowing (the reason we're all there, right?). And there is the emotional bit - we're all isolated, etc. - it gets deep. Highlights for me (not to give too much away for those planning to see it): The opening number is sensory overload. The whole Trial scene at the end. The Hammers/flying pig. Run Like Hell was INTENSE. The whole thing really was great. One complaint - they had a bank of speakers which blocked much of the famed circular video screen (from my vantage point anyway in the Balcony - and I imagine for many in the audience...) and it seems like they had plenty of room for those speakers to be way off to the side. That said - the sound was phenomenal. I'll also add: ideal seats? Probably mid-floor or perhaps a Loge seat. In retrospect I wish I had grabbed a better seat, but I didn't want to spend a fortune on the thing. I grabbed a decent Balcony which 'only' set me back about $70. But if you're into it - it would be well worth spending the money for a good seat. Although I don't think 1st five rows on the floor would be the way to go here - I imagine it would be better to be a bit further back to take it all in. My biggest worry was the 'hired guns' playing the thing. I have to say though it didn't really bother me. It gets played so well, it wasn't really an issue. (Although it does seem like sacrilege that it's not Gilmour wailing on top of the Wall during Comfortably Numb). A fantastic show in all aspects - musically, visually, comically and emotionally. Go see it of you can. YOUR HELP NEEDED! We want to cover Roger's concerts the best we can, to share the experience with everyone, especially those who won't be able to attend the shows. We'd love to see ANY pictures, tickets scans, reviews, newspaper reports, and anything else you come across for this show - we look forward to hearing from you! |
