Syd Barrett tribute events The City Wakes posterWe've got three updates for you today relating to the eagerly anticipated The City Wakes tribute to Syd Barrett, taking place later this month in his home town of Cambridge: a new event poster that you can purchase (autographed if you so desire), a new album of songs by Syd Barrett being created for the event, and also details of how YOU can help with a proposed documentary on The City Wakes.

First, the new "Doors" event poster [right], designed by Storm Thorgerson, that was recently revealed, is now available to order in signed and unsigned editions through this link. Both versions are sure to be collectors items before long, and both raise money for the charity.

Second, as part of The City Wakes, the organisers are creating a new album of songs by Syd Barrett, and Storm has very kindly offered to design the album cover. Storm will design the album cover at cost price. This is about £3,000 and will pay for the photographer, travel and other incidentals. The album cover will also be available as an A2 sized print.

The first 20 people to order the print in advance, without seeing it, will only pay half price (estimated at £150). If they get enough advance orders, then they will be able to guarantee Storm's costs and give him the green light to go ahead. And if you change your mind about buying the print, after you've seen the design, then they won't ask you to pay anything. If you do decide to purchase the print, after you've actually seen it, then you will get a signed copy at half price as well as a free album.

It's risk free to you, but helps them to work out what the demand will be like and, hopefully, ensures that Escape Artists, the charity behind The City Wakes, doesn't lose any money.

Finally, The City Wakes Documentary. Everything (cameras, operators, etc.) is in place to make a complete documentary record of all The City Wakes events, but as a charitable event, they could use a few thousand pounds to help pay for post-production.
