rex collections german cover small Rex Features, London's top picture library for the performing arts, has long been a treasure trove of great Pink Floyd pictures. Having captured the band either in action, or posing for the camera, there are many great shots lurking in their archives.

Now, thanks to the work of Marcus Hearn, these archives are set to be revealed in a new book, being published in March this year in a German edition, and then an international edition in May, that is bound to be extremely popular with Pink Floyd fans...

The first edition scheduled to appear, in March 2008, is the German edition. "A Tribute To Pink Floyd. Live - Studio - Backstage. Fotografien aus der Rex Collection" will be published by Schwarzkopf & Schwarzkopf.

However, as the book is a compilation of the best Pink Floyd pictures from the Rex Features archives, the text language used won't be a huge concern.

If it is, then May 28th, 2008, is when you'll need to wait for, when the English language "Pink Floyd - Rex Collections" is published by Reynolds & Hearn. We understand that this edition is an individually numbered limited release of 1,500 copies.

Both books have the same contents, covering the band from the late sixties, through to the Live8 concert in 2005, and beyond.

The German edition has the great black & white picture on the cover (click thumbnail to see in greater detail), and the international version, the very interesting colour picture (again, click the thumbnail). It is a hardbacked book, with some 160 pages packed with many rarely seen photographs.

This is the sixth volume in their series of rock photography books compiled from the unique archives of Rex Features, and should prove at least as popular as the preceding volumes have been.
