piper at the gates of dawnGuy Pratt has just undertaken what is said to be a fabulous interview with his father-in-law, Richard Wright, about Pink Floyd's 1967 début, The Piper At The Gates of Dawn (PATGOD), and also his more recent activities on David Gilmour's On An Island project.

Thanks to our friends over at Planet Rock radio, we have the exclusive first details of this, and when you can hear the shows that will air the interview.

emi steps 1967 As a reminder, Guy is presenting Planet Rock's weekend evening show again this Saturday and Sunday, August 18th and 19th from 9pm - 12am both days, and in those shows, he will be talking to Richard, airing clips from a one hour, track-by-track PATGOD special airing later in August, and also getting Richard's thoughts on playing with David on the last tour.

As part of that, David has given Planet Rock special permission to play a couple of minutes of Echoes, as recorded at the huge Gdansk gig. Guy is clearly thrilled to have this opportunity, makes the most of it, and the excerpt from Gdansk's Echoes (during the Saturday show) is an added bonus.

Those who heard Guy's shows on July 28th and 29th will know that they were very entertaining, and included some choice anecdotes from his life on the road and in the studio. His shows this coming weekend promise more of the same, and coupled with his interview with Richard, these are clearly not to be missed.

Now to the Piper special. As we mention above, this is an hour long show, with Guy in conversation with Richard about the making of the album, track-by-track. Airing on August 27th, at 5pm, Richard reveals some fascinating stuff on how Syd wrote songs, the reaction of EMI, and how the Beatles kept sneaking in to their sessions.

All sounds marvellous stuff! For more details of Planet Rock, and how to tune in to them, visit www.PlanetRock.com.
