WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD!

Do not read on if you don't want surprises to be spoilt, regarding what the band played!

The second of two shows in the state of California, and another amphitheater. Roger and the band put on a spellbinding show, with no sign of flagging despite the number of concerts they have performed thus far.

Next stop, Sin City itself - Las Vegas. With Roger performing in a prime location on the Strip, will he outshine the extravagent, over-the-top hotels and other attractions in Vegas? (I think we know the answer to that one!)

The local press were there, of course, and on the website of the Orange County Register, is their review of Roger's concert in Irvine. A very positive review - with them calling it  "the most all-encompassing Floyd experience any fan could hope for."

CONCERT REVIEW - by BD contributer, John Childs

The show started 30 minutes late at 8:30PM. As most of us know, the first set is composed of gems from WYWH, Animals (excellent version of Sheep), The Wall, The Final Cut and some solo works. Highlights included "Leaving Beirut" (Rog's lyrics and pictures onscreen were very welcome) and SOYCD. After a brief break they played Dark Side in it's entirety and did an excellent job. With 3 guitar players, 2 keyboard players and 3 backup singers they made quite an impression. The encore included an excellent rendition of Comfortably Numb.

Random Comments:

The band, audio/visual and setlist were much improved from the last RW tour in 2000. I'm a big Gilmour fan and have enjoyed his solo tour last year but I have to admit I enjoyed this tour more. Of course there is much more Floyd material on this tour and Gilmour won't play Animals material.

Ever watch "The Sopranos"? Andy Fairweather Low could pass for Uncle Junior in a sit down.

Roger really seems more animated than I've seen him in the past. He really seems to be enjoying himself.

Musically the band is tight and the guitarists seemed to play most of the Gilmour leads and solos note for note. Not much freestyling. Fine by me!

Overall an excellent show! To me, this was a Pink Floyd tour, not a RW tour. I've seen PF in 87, 88 and 94 and this tour ranks right up there. I hope they come out with a DVD!

What I missed--Gilmour solos and voice. (can't have everything, right?)

CONCERT REVIEW - by BD contributer, Fettig

As usual, the show was fantastic. It was very similar to his last show at the Hollywood Bowl. The show at the Hollywood Bowl was more extravagant as far as visual effects (such as the biggest flame I have ever witnessed, a huge crane for the pyramid, and the LCD or (laser) light show!).

Roger’s shows are still some of the best I have ever seen. I especially liked his background videos that he played with some songs.

Long live Roger Waters!

CONCERT REVIEW - by BD contributer, Brad King

I sat 2nd row, center stage. I went to Roger's concerts last summer in Los Angeles and I have seen the Gilmour/Wright/Mason group perform before as well. But this concert was the best concert I have ever been to in my entire life... bar none.

The band was incredibly tight and the effects and visuals seemed significantly better than last summer... which were already great. The set list is the same but it just flowed perfectly.

Roger Waters is the ultimate showman. He is intensely involved in the songs and the crowd... whether he is singing his songs himself or allowing a bandmate to sing his songs.

Here in Orange County, we are mostly proud republicans. I was concerned that he would be booed when he got into his Bush bashing. I didnt hear any boos. Some people cheered, others (like myself) kept quiet during this low point of the concert (Leaving Beirut).

Not a big deal because, after that, we were treated to Roger singing his oh-so-relevant song Sheep. Then, he treated us with a stunning rendition of his brilliant DSOTM. And finally, classics from his magnum opus, the greatest album of all time, The Wall.

Simply, a great night. The absolute best. Roger seemed happy with the response. All we Floyd fans can do is hope and pray that the reaction that he received will motivate him to tour again... and this time with The Wall. Then, we can all die happy knowing that we have seen all there is to see as Floyd fans.

CONCERT REVIEW and PICTURES - by BD contributer, Geoff Sauer

I've been a fan of Floyd for 30 years yet never got the chance to see them live. By the time the band lost Roger, I was only 11 years old anyway.

Over the years, my love for this supergroup has grown profoundly and I have collected tons of shows going all the way back to 1968.  When Gilmour toured last year, he didn't get too close to San Diego and quite honestly, although I enjoy the stuff RW did in during his previous solo tours, I never really saw it as PF material. He had altered sounds and interpretations to suit the "Rogerness" of things.

Now for 2006 and 2007, it seems that Roger has moved on and found a new love and energy. Let me tell you, this show was amazing from start to finish. The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think and it really doesn't matter which one's Pink. Graham Broad is a hell of a drummer and Dave Kilminster is one hell of a guitar player. He brings these songs to life. This is the guy RW needed for the In The Flesh Tour. Ian Ritchie brings STCFTHOTS into the 21st century.

For those wanting to see PF, go see Roger before it's too late. It is as good as it gets and that my friends ain't bad.
