Written by Matt
Tuesday, 15 January 2008

Piper 40th anniversary editionBack in August, many of you heard the unmissable, hour-long Piper special on Planet Rock radio, which had Guy Pratt in conversation with Richard Wright about the making of the album, the special edition of which was released on September 3rd (Europe)/4th (USA/Canada). Richard went down memory lane, going through the album track-by-track.

There's another chance to hear the show when it airs again on January 27th, at 6pm GMT. Hear Richard revealing some fascinating stuff on how Syd wrote songs, the reaction of EMI, and how the Beatles kept sneaking in to their sessions. You'll also find out the significance of the phrase "duck hunt"! For more details of Planet Rock, and how to tune in (or listen online), visit
