With the long awaited release of Pink Floyd's Pulse on DVD less than a month away (hitting the stores on July 10th/11th), US public broadcasting is airing an exclusive premiere of selections from the recording this Sunday, June 18th, at 8pm. As part of the premiere, there is a pledge drive where an exclusive David Gilmour CD is up for grabs!

WLIW21 New York Public Television is the station airing it, and will be presenting it nationally (in the US) to public television across the nation in August.

During the broadcast, viewers can support WLIW21's decision to air this kind of music programming by calling 1.800.767.2121 or visiting www.wliw.org (click "support21", then click "become a member") and making a donation. PBS (Public Broadcasting) in the US is not state-funded, and relies completely on public donations to keep their valuable service running.

The Pulse airing will be in pledge drive format, bringing viewers nine songs from the forthcoming DVD, intersperced with breaks for pledges. With certain levels of donation, pledgers receive: for a $70 donation, the "David Gilmour "On An Island" CD; for a $100 donation the 'Pulse' DVD; and for a $150 donation, a package with both the CD and DVD. And in addition, each of the above will also come with the exclusive CD containing three live songs from David's AOL sessions: 'On An Island', 'Take A Breath' and 'This Heaven', in a card sleeve designed by 'OAI' designer Steve Knee.

If you do not live in the New York metro-area, you can contact your local public television station at www.pbs.org/stationfinder to find airdates in your area for PINK FLOYD LIVE: PULSE. If your station does not have this concert scheduled please call or write them to let them know you want to see PINK FLOYD on TV in your town! Once a station sees public demand for a show it might convince them to add it to their schedule.

PLEASE NOTE: a donation to today’s WLIW pledge does not mean that you will get your copy of ‘Pulse’ earlier than the US release date of 11 July. We have no idea when the DVD will be mailed out, so please do not be disappointed if you make a pledge, and receive your Pulse DVD later than the 11 July instore date. This information/clarification has come directly from David's management team, in response to email enquiries.

Our thanks to Natasha Padilla at WLIW, and to Andy at David's management, for the info.
