David Gilmour in BBC Fender Stratocaster guitar documentary Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Tuesday, 18 May 2004

Fifty years ago, Leo Fender created an electric guitar which changed the face of popular music. In "Fender Heaven" to be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on Saturday May 22nd, at 10:30am BST, David Stafford tells the intriguing story of Leo Fender's invention, analyses why it rose into one of the great symbols of modern America, and looks at its sociological importance. Stars including Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Joan Armatrading, Johnny Marr, Jeff Beck and Hank Marvin joined Stafford in this birthday tribute.

In common with most BBC radio programmes, it should be available to listen to "on demand" for a week after being aired. We will of course publish the link once it is known, so that you all can hear it...
