David Gilmour performs at Michael Kamen's Memorial Service Print E-mail

The official Michael Kamen website reports on the memorial service which took place at Dukes Hall, The Royal Academy Of Music, London, on November 22nd.

"...Those closest to him quickly organised a memorial service to be held in a place that Michael would have called his place of worship: The Royal Academy of Music. Michael would never have wanted a sombre memorial service - he would have insisted on a party instead, a celebration. Those involved managed to do just that. In just a few short days an event was created that illustrated the way in which Michael had lived his life doing exactly what he loved best, living! Equal amounts of tears and laughter were provoked by a variety of friends and relatives' cherished anecdotes. They managed to raised our spirits, and remind us that our true host, Michael, might have departed from this world but he will never really leave us.

New German Roger Waters interview Print E-mail

A new, quarterly, German magazine, specialising in interviews, has just had its first issue published. The 256 page Galore Magazine, published by Vision GMBH, is now in shops and kiosks in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and includes forty interviews with personalities from the worlds of music, film, fashion, literature, sport and art.

The first issue includes interviews and "high quality photography" with the likes of Thom Yorke (Radiohead), HR Giger (strange artist, created the "Alien"), Michael Stipe (REM), Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Spike Jonze (film producer), Bjork, and Roger Waters, amongst others! We have not yet seen the magazine itself, just the press release and the cover, but are getting a copy shortly.

 
Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums Print E-mail

The new edition of Rolling Stone Magazine, celebrating their list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" as mentioned previously on our news pages, has finally hit European shores, and should be appearing in magazine retailers now. The magazine includes a hybrid SACD disc with selections from some of the Top 500 albums, and, as with the magazine itself, includes Pink Floyd ("Money" from Dark Side Of The Moon). The disc, in a white card sleeve, includes a competition with over 45,000 prizes to be won.

Nick Mason at Bath charity event Print E-mail

This Is Bath, a UK regional publication and website, reported today that Nick Mason was amongst those who appeared at a celebrity reception at a Bath stately home, St Catherine's Court, near Batheaston, to raise money for a new arts youth centre. The party, at the home of Hollywood actress Jane Seymour, was in aid of the Theatre Royal's Egg Appeal.
